On Friday, Looking In Teen Theater came to Arts Middle and performed for
our 7th and 8th grade students. The teen theater company, called "Teen
theater that keeps it real" by American Theatre Magazine, brought a
cast of 9 actors (including 4 Arts Middle alums) to perform original
scenes about issues and topics that face our students in their day to
day life. The topics ranged from body image to bullying, from drug
abuse to self-harming. the actors dramatize short scenes and then
remain in character as the audience is allowed to ask them questions
about their choices and why they acted the way that they did. Our
students were fully engaged and left discussing some issues that are
frequently difficult to address. We are glad to welcome Looking In each
year.
