CREC Interim Learning Plan

On Thursday, March 26, we will begin supporting student learning through electronic mediums. It is our goal to engage every single student in meaningful learning, but this is all new to us and we cannot ensure that the technology will always work. We will do our best to work with you to make the most of this opportunity.

Arts-Infused Curriculum

The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Magnet Middle School (Arts Middle) features an integrated learning environment for students in Grades 6-8 that combines a rigorous core curriculum enhanced by an art-themed focus.

The academic curriculum is rigorous and individualized to wadsworthstudent needs.  The arts curriculum provides students the opportunity to further explore a wide variety of art forms including creative writing, dance, digital arts, filmmaking, instrumental music, theater, musical theater, vocal music and the visual arts. The experiences students develop at the school will prepare them for more advanced level work at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts High Schools, which strive to prepare students for college and/or a professional career in the arts.

Arts Middle is recognized as a model Professional Learning Community, one of only about 150 schools nationwide to hold this honor. These are schools and districts in which educators recognize the key to improved learning for students is on-going, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students. We focus on learning, building a collaborative culture, and getting results.
